Nobody cares as much as you do. When you want to be successful at any endeavor, you’re the only person that can truly make that happen. Which means you need to find a way to be honest with yourself about how well you are actually doing, and maybe you need to be more honest with other people as well. I recently shut the gym down for two days because I knew that mentally I was on the verge of collapse. That’s not what the internet gurus are telling you to do when you run a business. What that did was offer clarity, it allows me to bring my best self to my business and it allowed me to figure out some things to benefit my mental and physical health. In truth, I will probably do too much again and again, because it’s what I’ve wanted for twenty years. Being able to know when and where you’re struggling is important in everything we do. From grappling to relationships to work, a key component of long term success is being able to evaluate if the trajectory you’re on is going where you want to be, and if not, then figuring out how to course correct.
